I have just been diagnosed with perioral dermatitis. The dermatologist insists that fluoride is the cause, and that I must immediately find a toothpaste that doesn't have fluoride. I have looked in several large stores and can not find a single toothpaste that is not fluoridated. Can you help?

Though non-fluoride toothpastes are not as effective at preventing tooth decay, there are a number of them available on the market today. Try asking your local pharmacist or visiting a local herbal/organic store for such products. You may also want to look on-line at stores such as http://www.mothernature.com. Two companies which provide thes products are Desert Essence and Tom's of Maine. Non-fluoride toothpastes might have other products to clean and sooth teeth and gums, such as Tea Tree Oil or Baking Soda. I wish you luck with solving your allergy.
